Liebenberg & Associates is an independent security consulting practice built on a simple principle: clients deserve security solutions designed around their actual risks, not what vendors want to sell them. We provide objective guidance, technical expertise, and strategic oversight to businesses, organisations, and residential communities across Southern Africa.
Heading up our projects is Danie Liebenberg, our founder and lead consultant. Danie has spent more than three decades in the security industry, working through roles that gave him perspective on every dimension: how crime works, how security solutions are sold and implemented, and the gaps that leave clients exposed.
His career began with the South African Police, working in investigations in Norwood, Johannesburg and giving him a foundation in understanding criminal behaviour and its consequences. In 1993, he entered the private security sector, initially founding an armed response service before moving into corporate and industrial security.
Over the following years, Danie worked in progressively senior roles across security technology sales, implementation, and management - including serving mining operations, manufacturing facilities, banks, and corporate clients across South Africa and Nigeria. He eventually led a security business integrating technology, guarding services, and monitoring before founding Liebenberg & Associates in 2009.
Throughout his time working in the security industry, Danie saw the same problem repeatedly: security providers see their responsibility ending when they've delivered what they sold. But clients don't buy cameras or guards - they buy outcomes. When those outcomes don't materialise, clients are left with underperforming solutions they were convinced to buy based on what the vendor offered, not what their risk profile demanded.
That realisation led Danie to establish Liebenberg & Associates in 2009 as an independent consultancy. By then, he'd worked across every facet of the industry and had the experience to provide truly independent advice.
The consultancy's approach is straightforward: clients have the right to expect a return on their security investments. Our role is to help clients design solutions that address their actual risks and hold providers accountable for delivering results - not just deliverables.
